It is the only state Spain splits by county. The south —Imperial, Inyo, Kern, Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara and Ventura— belongs to Los Angeles; the rest, Fresno, Sacramento and the Bay Area included, is San Francisco's.
And Inyo County appears in both official lists.

Which Spanish consulate covers California?
California's map is the only one in the United States drawn by county: Consulate General of Spain in Los Angeles and San Francisco. If you live in Inyo, ask: both claim you.
Within the state there is also an honorary consulate: Honorary Consulate of Spain in San Diego. Useful for assistance, passports for children under 12 and certified copies, not for adult passports, visas or powers of attorney.

What you can settle without going to the consulate
- Track a passport or visa already applied for at sutramiteconsular.maec.es with the code on your receipt.
- Download the forms (EX-01, EX-15, form 030, 790) and fill them in before the appointment: they are not filled in at the counter.
- Check whether you need a visa: with a US passport you enter Spain visa-free for up to 90 days in any 180.
If your city is not in the table, the office is the same: the split goes by whole state.
